After a brief hiatus for this particular type of post, I’m back with a handful of helpful links for anyone who cares about teenagers.
From the fine folks at Orange a couple of really helpful pieces:
The first is on when parents consider church involvement as optional for their son or daughter. I wrote on this topic once, and I have to say it is one of the most often talked about issues when the youth ministry set gets together. Don’t get me wrong — I don’t think you have to be at church every time the doors are open to be a Christian. Then again, I can’t figure out why parents let spiritual stuff slide when they would never do that with other activities — school, sports, etc.
The second piece from Orange is aimed more at church leaders, but it’s a good peek behind the curtain for parents, too..
Here’s one from Buzzfeed translating some of the teenage crowd’s favorite sayings for those who are, shall we say, not “with it.” A brief disclaimer that there is some objectionable content in this post.
Last of all (meaning this is a “handful” of links only if you have four fingers), a great video about the teenage brain. Less than fifteen minutes long and super helpful, it helps answer the question — “What are they thinking!”
