Last night I tucked my little girl into bed. She’s 10.

I didn’t think for a second about someone coming in the middle of the night and taking her from me. The thought never occurred to me that I might become so desperate that I would actually sell my daughter (for the love of all that is pure and good, how is that even a PHRASE) so I could provide more adequately for my son and my wife.

And yet, last night when I kissed my daughter goodnight, millions of children all over the world found themselves in such a situation. Abducted, run-aways, sold into slavery, the grip of captivity pays no mind to how you got there.

Its only concern is not letting you go.

It is estimated that over 27 million people are enslaved somewhere in the world today, and the human trafficking industry produces more revenue annually than Apple. Every year, and I promise you I am not making this up, the number of children trafficked is equivalent to the population of Dallas, Texas.

What is wrong with people?!?!

Fortunately, there is hope.

I first heard of Rapha House in 2006 when I was running a week of Jr. High Camp and was looking for a mission to support. Still a young organization back then, my preacher told me about them as he was working with their parent organization. I think at that week of camp we raised about $600.

Fast forward about 10 years, and I want to raise about $35,000.

Our nonprofit, The 25 Group, is partnering with Rapha House as our newest ministry partnership venture. Every quarter of the year we pick a mission, nonprofit, or organization that is feeding the hungry, helping the sick, providing water to the thirsty — you know, Matthew 25 kinds of things — and we raise as much money as we can and then we give it to them so they can keep doing what it is they do without worrying about the fundraising aspect.

There is no organization on the face of this planet more deserving than Rapha House.

What I’m about to ask you to do is going to cost you about 10 minutes and $25, but I am not exaggerating or trying to pull an emotional fast one on you when I say it could permanently change a life, helping Rapha House to continue to love, rescue, and heal little girls who have been sold like a commodity instead of treasured like the gems of humanity that they are.

The 25 Group doesn’t have any paid employees or office space or much overhead at all. We just raise money and give it away. You can be sure we’re maxing out your donation for good, not padding our own pockets.

Many readers of my blog already support our work. Thank you. Would you mind sharing this blog and inviting others to get on board as well? You have my word that the Rapha House story is a story worth sharing.

At the very least, give us a follow on Facebook and keep up with our progress. Even if you can’t give right now, maybe you’ll be able to do so later this year (year end gifts, anyone?). Stay in touch.

We are planning to pay the rent on the safe house for 2016 in full. This is an expense that is negotiated annually and due in January. My earnest hope is that we’ll raise enough (again, about $35,000) to write them a check and underwrite the entire expense. You can help by giving and inviting others to do the same.

This is a worthy cause, a huge goal, and one that I’m going to spend the next three months doing all I can do to make happen. Join me, when you tuck your kids in at night, in praying for those who are safe now, in the loving care of the people at Rapha House.

And join me, too, in praying for those who aren’t yet.

Thanks for giving.
