When I was 12 or 13, my preacher asked me if I wanted to preach at a Youth Night at our church. If you don’t know what a Youth Night is, it’s when the kids run the whole service. Most kids don’t know much about running anything, so this honor is normally relegated to the lesser-attended Sunday evening service. Most churches don’t have Youth Nights anymore, which is a shame. It’s also a shame that we don’t sing many hymns or have potlucks as often. But I digress.
The sermon I prepared was anything but phenomenal. In fact, I’m not sure I talked for two minutes. I remember quoting Genesis 1:1 and John 3:16, tying the two together somehow, and sitting down as fast as possible. I was sweating like a pig.
Twenty years and a whole lot of sweat later, I’m still preaching. No plans on stopping.
You can click the tabs to watch some videos from my recent preaching turns. There’s also a tab on having me in to preach at your church. I felt a little silly putting that up as a tab, because there are a lot of great preachers out there. But if you’re looking for a halfway decent preacher who will do his best and be easy to work with, I’m your man.
