Can’t Miss Links for Parents 2.3

This blog is a weekly-ish collection of links I’ve found on the web in the past week. The aim is to be a one-stop shop for some insight and training for parents, student pastors, youth ministry volunteers, and non-church youth workers. Click on any image for links to the content. Photo credit to the links. Thanks for reading!

I stinking love All Pro Dad. It’s a great organization that is really equipping dads with helpful insights into leading well. This link touches on a topic families simply don’t talk about enough, especially dads and daughters. Click on APD’s logo to read a great article with seven factors that contribute to sexual activity among young women. Knowing these — and acting accordingly — will open up communication between you and your daughter in a healthy way.

One in ten teenagers suffers from a depressive disorder. Suicide is the third most leading cause of death in adolescents. The reality of depression, suicide, eating disorders, and self harm is one of the most startling facets of doing youth ministry. I ran across a great website with tons of resources for parents who may be struggling with a son or daughter in one of these areas. It’s not faith-based, but It may be super helpful to visit or to pass along to a family you know is struggling.

And in the “watch it if you dare” category, here’s a link to MTV’s Video Music Awards show this past weekend. As usual, there were plenty of weird moments. But if you don’t know who Austin Mahone, Juicy J, or 5 Seconds of Summer are, you should at least browse some of this content.
